It’s always difficult to step out of the shadow of a previous band and in the case of former e.s.t. bassist Dan Berglund, he also had to deal with the loss of his late bandmate Esbjorn Svensson. However, Berglund and his new band Tonbruket have created something fresh and vital in their recently released debut album.

There’s a wealth of gigs to look forward to here at Southbank Centre in 2010, from John Cale & Heritage Orchestra playing Paris 1919 to our major festivals Ether and Meltdown, as well as shows from Henry Rollins, Mariza and Richard Hawley. As part of London Jazz festival concerts at Southbank Centre acclaimed jazzy post-rockers Tortoise will play the Royal Festival Hall on 22nd November, performing material from their new record Beacons of Ancestorship.
